A PROJECT FOR TOMORROW, TODAY.
The team
The idea for a sports and surf park in Switzerland began taking shape about ten years ago. Much has been achieved since then, with the visionary squad from that day now a powerful Team of eight. The big question of how the most beautiful sports and surf park of tomorrow should look like is still constantly on our minds and continues to inspire us today.
The company
waveup creations AG, as the project company and builder, sets the strategic direction. It oversees the conception, planning, and subsequent operation of the sports and surf park – a unique playground with ample opportunities to engage in novel and new sports, enjoy leisure activities such as swimming, and relax in nature. The one-of-a-kind space is the manifestation of our pioneering work. For Regensdorf. For the Canton of Zurich. For Switzerland.
The park
The sports and surf park by waveup is designed to combine diverse uses. A surfing facility with an open-air swimming pool; an oasis of relaxing nature enjoyed hand in hand with exhilarating sports activities; an educational facility combined with a multifunctional HUB building. The proximity to established sports infrastructure on the edge of town and, as a result, the synergy opportunities available, will provide optimal conditions for the sustainable operation of the park. Through greening the park mindfully and in harmony with nature, the sports and surf park will also integrate seamlessly into the natural surroundings and sustainably revitalize the environment.
Our Vision for Regensdorf
The waveup creations AG goal is to bring different sports such as surfing closer to people and make them more accessible to the community. People and their needs are our central focus. That is why our vision is to create a space not only where every individual has unparalleled freedom to explore, but also one that raises awareness about our shared responsibility to protect the environment. Therefore, the project goals for the sports and surf park are:
- Minimizing the use of natural resources
We want to create a sports and surf park for future generations. This means using resources such as water, land, and energy sustainably. A large proportion of the energy needed for the operation of the park is generated by our onsite solar energy system. - Increasing biodiversity in the area
The sports and surf park is located in a former gravel mining area. Through careful and mindful greening completely free of neophytes, we intend to revitalize the natural environment, creating new habitats for plants, animals, and people. - Promoting youth sports and the joy of movement
It is undisputed that an active lifestyle with regular exercise is important to staying healthy. Unfortunately, it is increasingly apparent that children and young people in Switzerland are engaging less and less in exercise or sports. We want to start with children and young people, by getting them out from behind their screens and by enhancing their body awareness, improving their health and self-esteem in the long-term.

Your contribution makes the difference
A lot has been invested in recent years. Together we were able to celebrate several milestones! We look back on these beautiful moments with pride.
However, as it’s common with such projects, there have also been minor setbacks: Delays, especially in connection with the BZO revision on 25 March 2019 due to the zoning moratorium in the Canton of Zurich, have meant that the vote on the layout plan, which was planned for Spring 2020, will now probably take place earliest in December 2021. The park was originally slated to be fully-operational by this time frame. For us, this has meant that we’ve had to adjust our schedule again and again.
At the same time, we want to keep the promise we made to the people of Regensdorf, that we will not use any public money for the realization of the most beautiful sports and surf park in Switzerland.
Since we’ve been asked often by interested parties how they can support the waveup sport and surf park, we would therefore like to give you the opportunity to participate in the project with an amount of your choice. You will be making a valuable contribution to the planning costs of the sport and surf park, which is currently transitioning from the preliminary stage to the construction phase. Particularly, your help will ensure the necessary quality and progress of the planning.
